If your shopping philosophy is similar to mine, you wouldn't purchase anything without it fitting into a "vision". When I saw this dress, I immediately thought of a very "untouched" look and an overgrown field. Thankfully, my girl from high school, Emily just so happens to take incredible photos. She captured this dress in a setting exactly as I had envisioned prior. She does such amazing work and it's always fulfilling to collaborate with another creative spirit!

This Zara dress is a bit.. how do I say this? Border line pilgrim-y. BUT, the length, wrist ties, and the ring belt really make the piece relevant to fashion right now and to my wardrobe. D ring belts, oval belts, circle belts.. whichever it is, I'll take it. It's minimal and modern, making it an ideal touch to elevate your fit. As much as I love a body-con piece, nothing beats the airy, billowy aspect of this type of dress. A dress like this can also be paired with a simple pair of slides in the summer or ankle boots and a leather jacket in the fall for a sleeker look.

Here are a couple similar dresses from Asos and FWRD.

For this look, I really wanted to keep it au natural without really being bare (in terms of makeup). I did a subtle, glowy base for the face. I put a slight touch of shimmer shadow on the lids and a few swipes of mascara. I went for wine stained lips and decided to keep my brows untouched. For my hair, I partially curled it to create some body, but mostly because I can't be bothered with my hair after the makeup process. I know I'm not alone on that one! Tousled, messy hair can only add to a look.

The slight detailing on the dress called for a calm approach towards accessories. Playing off of the belt, I put on tiered, drop earrings.

Here are a couple similar pairs from Anthropologie and Forever21

Trying different looks and silhouettes isn't something to fear, one should embrace it! Go out of your comfort zone, like I did with this piece. Incorporating little aspects you're comfortable with into the look such as accessories, shoes or a jacket helps to broaden your wardrobe horizon at your pace.

 Happy recreating!
